Hoya Paranoya is BACK!! John Thompson III is on a recruiting rolle, locking down Jeremiah Rivers, Dajuan Summers and the "Big Ticket" Vernon Macklin for 2006. Add in another familiar name in Pat Ewing, JR and the Hoyas will bring back many memories of those dominating teams from the 80's.

Macklin is the big prize, and like Paul Harris of Syracuse, a freshmen most likely to make a huge impact right away. Macklin is an agile and athletic big man that is going up against top competition while prepping at Hargrave Academy. Not only in games, but every day in practice as well. A front court of Hibbert, Green and Macklin with Ewing and Dajuan Summers rotating in has to have evryone around the Hoya program excited and the Big East rivals just a wee bit worried.

Summers is another big prize and he really took off during the summer catapulting up the charts. Another bouncy athlete that will compete from end line to end line also has been showing the skill needed to be an excellent Big East player that will only get better and better.

When running a Princeton offense, you need a smart and steady hand at the point that can also hit the 3-ball and Thompson definitely landed that type of player in Jeremiah Rivers, son of former NBA player Doc Rivers. Rivers will provide a nice, solid PG that will be a very good floor general as he adopts to the change in level for the Big East.

With high scoring Austin Freeman already committed for 2007, the Hoyas have either one scholarship on paper for 2006 or 2007. Macklin, with his size, athletic ability and talent might not be long for college, so, they could have an additional spot in 2007. Not really a clear need, but with the increased exposure, saving it for another 2007 stud is probably a good move.
