BRANDON TRICHE LOOKS CLOSELY AT HOYAS

August 20, 2008

Upstate New York is not an area that is generally considered a hotbed of high-major Division 1 basketball talent, certainly not when compared with the more urban and metropolitan areas further south. That’s not to say that great players can’t exist up north, and judging by the final four schools that comprise Brandon Triche’s list, he certainly qualifies as one the top overall players in the Empire State’s 2009 class. The Dewitt, NY native said that he hopes to decide on one of those four schools by the November signing period.

“It’s alright," Brandon Triche said when asked about the recruiting process. “There’s a little bit of pressure in trying to pick a school."

The four schools that appear to have made the cut and form the list from which the eventual winner for his services will come from are Syracuse, Georgetown, Connecticut, and Georgia Tech.

As for his feelings about Georgetown, he said that “it’s a school that allows me to play the point and off the ball. Everybody on the court for them can pass and dribble. And they’re on top of the Big East every year."

HOYA TARGET TRISTAN SPURLOCK PICKS VIRGINIA

August 13, 2008

A few weeks ago, the NBE Basketball Report spent some time Catching Up With Tristan Spurlock as he prepared to close out the July evaluation period. Spurlock told us he would visit Georgetown on August 6th and in-state Virginia was also a leader for his services.

A source close to the situation has informed us that it will be Virginia for Spurlock as he joins his Boo Williams AAU teammate, Jontel Evans, as a verbal commitment to Dave Leito's program.

The 6-foot-8, 218 pound forward will bring a versatile game to the Cavaliers. Spurlock, a native of Woodbridge (VA), takes pride in his work on the defensive end of the court and can score inside and out. He is an excellent addition for the ACC school.
