VERBAL COMMITMENT ALERT: Henry Sims, 6'10 BF/C from Mt. St. Joseph HS (MD)

The Baltimore Sun had the story this morning on Henry Sims verbal commitment to Georgetown over the weekend: Mt. St. Joe's Sims to Play for Hoyas.

Georgetown adds a second big man in the class of 2008 as Henry Sims, one of the top prospects in the Baltimore area, chose the Hoyas over the weekend. Sims, a junior, accepted a scholarship offer from the Hoyas over offers from Maryland, Boston College, Florida and Virginia. Sims averaged 11.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.5 blocks this past season. Sims joins Chris Braswell on the Hoyas frontline that could replace Roy Hibbert and Jeff Green if they return to school for the 2007-2008 season. Jason Clark also is a member of the Hoyas' class of 2008 which represents the best start in the conference on the 2008 trail and gives the Hoyas three consecutive top-notch classes.

Currently, Georgetown has one scholarship open or 2008, but there are rumors that Octavious Spann will transfer closer to his Georgia home in an attempt to find more playing time to finish his career. Exoect the Hoyas to be on the trail of a small forward and possbily another guard to close out their 2008 recruiting. Despite a limited staff due to Kevin Broadas (Binghampton) and Sydney Johnson (Princeton) accepting head coaching positions, the Hoya train rolls on...
