MORE CHANGES AT GEORGETOWN
May 12, 2009
While John Thompson III may be Calmly Weathering the Losses (Washington Times) on the court that ended the Hoya season and off the court that have surprised many since their season ended, the Hoyas will have much less depth and a new look in the brutal Big East.
Since we last updated the Hoya roster, sophomore guard Jeremiah Rivers has transferred out of the program and incoming recruit Chris Braswell looks to be headed for another year of prep school.
Seniors: Jesse Sapp (G)
Juniors: Dajuan Summers (F)
Sophomores: Austin Freeman (SG), Chris Wright (PG), Omar Wattad (F), Nikita Mescheriakov (F), Julian Vaughn (PF)
Freshmen: Jason Clark (G), Henry Sims (BF/C), Greg Monroe (BF)
2009 Commitment: Hollis Thompson
Georgetown is currently down to nine scholarship players on the roster for next season and seven of them will be freshmen and sophomores. Making the roster even thinner is the probability that Omar Wattad and Nikita Mescheriakov are most likely another seasons or so away from contributing significantly at the Big East level.
The Hoyas still have some serious talent. However, in a conference with serious talent all over, the lack of depth and experience will but this Hoya team to the test night in and night out in 2008-2009.
