GEORGETOWN RECRUITING UPDATE

Just some random recruiting notes on Georgetown as we inch toward Midnight Madness in October on the road to March Madness Betting for the Big Dance in 2009!


Some school lists from the Hoop Group's Fall Jam Fest:

Kyrie Irving ’10, St. Patrick’s (NJ), New Jersey Roadrunners: Kansas, Kansas State, Indiana, Villanova, Syracuse, Seton Hall, St. John’s, Rutgers, Providence, Pitt, Notre Dame, Marquette, Georgetown, UConn, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Memphis, Duke, USC, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Maryland, Wake Forest, Ohio State, Texas A&M, St. Joseph’s, Arizona, and George Washington

Myles Davis ‘11, St. Peter’s Prep (NJ) Playaz (NJ): Kansas, Villanova, Syracuse, Rutgers, Seton Hall and Marist

Note- Davis said the following to explain his transfer from St. Benedict’s (NJ) to St. Peter’s: “I wanted to start over academically, . . . and plus, [with] basketball, . . . I wanted to show everybody I can play.”

Cameron Ayers ‘10, Germantown Academy (PA), Playaz Red (NJ): Georgetown, Michigan, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Richmond, La Salle, St. Joseph’s, and Temple
Favorites: “I like Georgetown [and] Michigan so far. That’s really it.”
Note- Ayers is out of action this weekend because he “had a sports hernia-type injury,” but said that he has been “doing a lot of rehab [and] . . . should be back in two to three weeks.” Ayers added that he will “be ready ready for the [high school] season.”

Nate Lubick ’10, St. Mark’s School (MA), New England Playaz: Georgetown, Michigan, Virginia, Stanford, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, and Georgia Tech
Note- Lubick said that Georgetown, Michigan Virginia, Stanford, and Wake Forest “are just the ones that are really coming on [him] the hardest.”

Nadir Tharpe ’11, Brewster Academy (NH), New England Playaz: Xavier, Georgetown, Providence, Marquette, Boston College, and UMass
Favorites: Xavier, Georgetown, and Providence

The NBE Basketball Report recently Catching up with Eric Atkins who lists Georgetown among his favorites. The 2010 recruit has several high-majors very interested in him early.

Bishop Maginn junior (class of 2010) guard Taran Buie is in high demand and a parade of college coaches have been making the trek to the Albany (NY) school to show how interested they are in Taran’s services for their school. It’s All About the Appearances acording to the Albany Times-Union this past weekend as Jim Boeheim of Syracuse, Gary Williams of Maryland, Paul Hewitt of Georgia Tech, Fred Hill of Rutgers and others donated their time to speak at a coaches clinic at the school this past weekend. Big East schools Notre Dame and Georgetown also came by to watch workouts last week.

While there have been Plenty of Big Gets for ACC Teams, on the recruiting trail, According to the Fayetteville Observer, Notre Dame and Georgetown hope that Ravenscroft power forward Ryan Kelly is not one of them.

Kelly visited the Notre Dame campus last weekend for an official visit and will visit Georgetown this weekend (9/20). Both schools have also trekked down to Raleigh (NC) to meet face to face with Kelly as well during this recruiting period. Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, North Carolina and Duke are also battling for Kelly’s services.
